***Playing catch-up again! I have another field trip post plus an update post coming soon.***
We had a fieldtrip back in February at the Highland Road BREC Park Observatory with Bayou Cajun Homeschoolers. There were two days scheduled to accommodate our group.
First we started off with a powerpoint presentation about the sun and the moon including solar flares and sunspots, lunar craters and maria.
Emma and Cai were picked to be the earth and the sun.
After the presentation, we broke into 2 groups. One group toured the observatory while the other group made a planisphere (star map). We were not able to do the solar viewing that day because it was overcast and rainy.

Touring the telescope room
The dome runs on a track so that they can point the telescope in whatever direction they need too without opening the whole roof.
