Making Room!

We have been moving everything around in the children's bedrooms to prepare for Rob's grandmother to come and live with us so that we can take care of her during this time of her life. We make the new transition on Saturday. She is 88 years old and has been declining at a pretty rapid rate. She will need 24/7 care so we have moved all of the children into one room so that she will have a room to herself. She is pretty much bed bound so she will need privacy at times.
Cade, Emma, and Sarah were in one room and the other boys were in the other room. We took down the bunk bed and crib out of the room and moved Cade, Emma, and Sarah into the other room. The boys originally consisted of two sets of bunk beds however now there is one regular set of bunk beds and a triple bunk bed. We had purchased several sets of bunk beds from an auction for around $10 a piece. The beds are sturdy wooden bunk beds that were used in dorm rooms. Rob took one of the extra beds and added it to the top of the bunk bed to make a triple bunk bed. It works well! This is the first attempt on the triple bunk bed. Notice how close the top bunk bed is to the ceiling. Cade slept like this for two nights:)

This is the final product!

We took the beds apart tonight so Rob could take the bottom bed and saw off the legs to make it shorter. This made Cade's bed 6 inches lower from the ceiling. This is going to work great. He is excited to be back in the boys room even though it is the children's room for now. The set up will be Cade, Ian, and Emma in the triple bunk bed. The other bunk bed will have Tate on top with Abram and Cai on the bottom. Sarah is going to sleep in the pack-n-play between the two sets of beds.
