Foot Washing

We have been learning about the cultures back during the bible times and some of their practices. Today I let me children wash each others' feet to show how they would wash some one's feet when they came to visit at their home. Several of my children were not thrilled with the idea of someone washing their feet or having to wash one of their siblings feet. However, Mommy thought it would be a good learning experience for them.
Cade washing Abram's feet.
(You can tell Cade is not real happy about his task!)

Still not very happy!

Now, Cade is laughing while washing Abram's feet.

Abram washing Cade's feet.
(Cade seems to be enjoying his foot washing more than giving one!)

Mommy washing Cai's feet.
(If you look closely you will see Cai laughing. He was pretty silly while getting his feet done.)
Cai washing Tate's feet.

Cai smelling Tate's feet!!!
(I know this is gross but I had to put it on the blog.)

Tate washing Ian's feet.
(It looks like Ian is having more fun than he thought he was going to have since he was one of my complainers!)

Tate drying Ian's foot.

Ian washing Emma's feet.
Emma just sat very still while Ian washed her feet.
I think it is good for us to get out of our comfort zone every now and then so that we are willing to demonstrate Christ's love even when we don't want to. After all, Christ washed the disciples feet!

Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God,
rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist.
Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
John 13: 3-5

That looked like a lot of fun! And you can really see the length of Emma's hair in the last two pics. It's getting SOOOO LONG! Very pretty.
