2nd Annual Sweet Swap

Katie over at Bring on the Lloyds is having her 2nd Annual Sweet Swap. Go on over and check it out if you are looking for some really yummy recipes!!

Toffee Bars
1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk

2 Tbsp butter

2 tsp vanilla

1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips or Special Dark chips

In a medium mixing bowl beat 1/2 cup butter, sugar, and saltwith an electric mixer on medium to high speed till combined. Using a wooden spoon, stir in the flour. Press into the bottom of an ungreased 9 x 13 baking pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven about 15 minutes or till the edges are lightly browned.

Meanwhile, in a heavy medium saucepan heat the sweetened condensed milk adn 2 Tbsp butter over medium heat till bubbly, stirring constantly. Cook and stir for 5 minute more. (Be careful because mixture can brown quickly!) The mixture will thicken and become smooth. Stir in the 2 tsp of vanilla. Spread over baked layer. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or till golden (I usually only have to cook it for 10 minutes.)

Once you pull it out of the oven, pour chocolate chips over the mixture. Let them stand for a few minutes to melt and then spread evenly. Place in refrigerater for the chocolate to set. Cut into bars.

*I line my pan with foil so I can pull them out of pan and cut into bars.*

Sorry I don't have a picture of these. I will be making these very soon and will do a post with a picture and link it back to this recipe if you are interested. They are yummy and everyone seems to love them. Very easy but delicious:)
