All of us went over to my uncle’s house for Christmas lunch and presents including Rob’s mom. Ian and I went early to help my aunt finish preparing lunch.
Before lunch, Aunt Pat passed out the stockings she filled for each of our kids. She stuffs them with lots of things for them to enjoy.
After the stockings, we ate lunch together. We had our traditional foods such as baked turkey, fried turkey, dressings, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, purple hull peas, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, potato salad, and rolls. There was also pecan pie, chocolate chip pecan pie, pumpkin pie, apple pie, a goodie tray with homemade cookies and candies.
After lunch, we opened presents. It is always a little crazy trying to watch each person open their presents.
Asa slept through the gift opening but Rob put his new cap on his head anyway. You can tell that it didn’t bother him at all. Nana and Rob opened all of Asa’s presents for him. I thought it was cute when Nana opened up his little mittens. Also, Cade got a full camouflage suit. This worked out great because he was going duck hunting with Poppy the next morning and it was supposed to be really cold. The Lord provided for him because he had not asked for this and my uncle had no idea he was going hunting while we were in town.
We spent the entire day hanging out with my family at my uncle’s house. We ended up heating up the leftovers for supper. It was a fun time. Now, we are just trying to figure out where to put everything!
