The stairs were built this week and a lot of the framing was completed to the house addition. There’s just a little left to do on that part.
The first picture is looking up the stairs and the second one is looking downstairs. (Before the walls were built up stairs.)
We were out of town from Thursday thru Saturday so I wasn’t sure how much would get done while we were gone. Decided I would take you on a “rough” walk through of the house addition. I will do this again once the sheetrock is on and you can distinguish things better!
This is looking down the new hallway downstairs that leads to the new bedroom and bathroom downstairs. If you walked to the end of the hallway, you would be walking into the bedroom closet.
This is looking into the new bedroom downstairs. Still isn’t completely finished.
Across from the new bedroom looking into the new bathroom entrance.
Fixing to walk upstairs to look at that addition.
When you walk upstairs, you will be entering a large room which will be used for a school room/play room and another area for guests. We might drop a wall one day and make part of this room a large boys’ dormitory!
This is looking from the large room at the hallway that leads to another new bathroom, office, and another room that can be a nice storage area, guest room, or bedroom.
I would have tried to show you the other rooms but it just looked all jumbled together with no sheetrock. I promise I will show you later :)
After more rain that got in the house, it was determined that we need special sheet metal flashing to protect this area of the house instead of the basic silver flashing. We shopped around and found Mr. Eric Hebert at A-Bear’s Awning & Sheet Metal, L.L.C. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, affordable and willing to go ahead and fixed our problem quickly due to our situation. I highly recommend giving him a call if you have any need for this type of work. He makes copper awnings, patio covers, all types of flashings, chimney chase tops, roof jacks, drain pans, air conditioning duct work, and brick walls & chimney (sawed & flashed), etc. (This is not a paid endorsement!)
I didn’t climb on the ladder to get pictures of the other sections but all of the workers thought he did an excellent job.
He will be coming back to do the flashing around our dormers and the caps for our dormer windows.
While we were gone, they started on my patio extension. I absolutely love it!!!! Can’t wait to see the completed project.
The bricks and all the stuff that goes along with it were delivered. They should start bricking the shop this week. (This was just one pile of many around the house because we are bricking the entire addition and shop.
The “American” sheetrock was delivered, too. It is in different piles in all of the areas that will need it. The sheetrock guy will start on the shop as soon as Rob gets the insulation put up. He, Cade, and Ian are planning on installing that on Monday while Rob is off from work. Our windows should come in this week and will be installed. The bricking of the house can’t start until the windows are installed. The roofers should finish our entire house this week, too.
Just another busy week at The Shelby’s!!!

WOW!!! You have a lot going on around the Shelby house right now :)
It all looks great and I can't wait to see the project finished. It's a good thing Rob has all of his little helpers too :)
Looks like a lot is getting done! It is so fun to watch!
It is really coming along. It looks large. How many square feet are you adding to your home?
Whew! I'm exhausted just reading about it!! Come on, how much did he pay you? Just kiddin'. It is moving along quickly.
It will look totally different once the sheet rock is in! I love the layout and can't wait to see it all done~
