Be Thou My Vision/Prayer Request

The words to this hymn have been heavy on my heart this week so I thought I would shared them with you. However, there have been some drastic changes in our home since yesterday.

As of yesterday, I found Rob’s mom unresponsive and breathing heavy as well as labored when I went in to check on her since she hadn’t come out for breakfast. (She’s been doing pretty good and getting around well but Wednesday she stayed in her room most of the day, skipped lunch and supper, and slept a lot. She was still talking to Rob that night but was very weak when he got her in bed.) I called Rob and talked to him to tell him what I found. I tried to wake her up but was unsuccessful so he came home to check her out since he doesn’t work too far from the house. Once he got home, he agreed that she needed assistance so he called 911 while I called to get someone over to watch the children.

After the doctors accessed her and got some of her medical records from her doctor where she was living, they determined that she was septic and they feel that her body is starting to shut down with all of her medical issues. They are telling us that they do not expect her to leave the hospital.

This has come much more quickly than we expected but could turn out differently. We do not know what the Lord has planned regarding this situation so we will just wait upon Him.

Thanks to friends (Amy C. and Candy) who watched my children yesterday and my mom and aunt who have come back in town to stay with the kids so we can stay at the hospital, and come and go from the house without having to keep arranging caregivers for the children.

I would ask for prayers for our family and along with wisdom for the doctors as we deal with this situation.

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;

Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art:

Thou my best thought, by day or by night,

Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true word;

I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord:

Thou my great Father, I Thy true son,

Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Riches I heed not, or man’s empty praise,

Thou mine inheritance, now and always:

Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,

High King of heaven, my treasure Thou art.

High King of heaven, my victory won,

May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heav’n’s Sun!

Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,

Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Amy, please know our family will be praying for yours. I can only imagine how you felt when you walked in the room and found her unresponsive. My heart is heavy for you and you will be in my prayers continually.
