Rob Update 8/27

This update for Pastor Rob is filled with both joy and disappointment. On the joyful side, he is home! With Hurricane Isaac bearing down on us they released Rob four days early. Praise God!! I drove to New Orleans and after a very long trip (New Orleans evacuation) we made it to their house around 5:30 pm. He was overwhelmingly glad to see his home after almost two months. Also, Amy found out today that they will be having a girl in February! On the other hand, their much needed bus has turned out to be a terrible disappointment. As I shared in my last update, Amy and Christine flew to Florida on Thursday to pick up the bus. They left on Friday for the return home. By the end of the day they were having problems with the Bus. The “check engine” light had come on so they stopped at an AutoZone where they were told one of the cylinders wasn’t firing. On Saturday it started making a terrible noise and a mechanic told them the exhaust manifold was cracked. He said someone had tried to patch it and burned a hole in it. He tried to repair it again but it didn’t hold. He also told them it had some serious oil leaks. Finally, at 5:30 on Saturday evening I received a call from them. They were stranded about an hour and a half away - the drive shaft had broken. My wife and I drove to pick them up and the bus was towed to Baton Rouge. Today they were told the drive shaft had destroyed the transmission. This is one of those dark providences when our theology reminds us that affliction experienced by God’s people always comes from God’s hand of mercy and grace. Rejoice with us that Rob is finally home. Pray that he and his family will adjust well to all of the struggles of their new life. Continue to pray that God will bring him physical restoration. And pray that the situation with the bus will have a positive resolution. It has proven to be much more costly than anyone had imagined.

I cant believe the bus is a lemon! If this was intentional on the seller's part, he will have to make an account to God one day.

Praying for a positive resolution for transportation and God's healing hand on Rob.

Every last penny of money should be refunded to them immediately and whoever sold them this vehicle should pay for the airline tickets and other costs lost.

On a happier note glad Rob is home and congratulations on a baby girl!

Praying for the Shelbys all the way up East in Connecticut!

Blessings, Although we have never met, I have been praying for your beautiful family since my church friend and sister in the Lord, Christi Brasseaux told me about Rob's accident. My husband Don & I have a 28 yr old son who still lives with us who is a quadraplegic. Matthew has never walked, uses a power wheelchair, and needs total care. We have lived our entire lives dealing with OT<PT & ST, transfer techniques, furniture and household modifications, and special equipment-hoyer lift, bath lifts, van lift etc.. I also home schooled Matthew for about 6 yrs from age 11 - 18.

I was so happy for you when Rob was able to return home....and yet keenly aware of the many adjust-ments that you will be making. The story of your bus nightmare broke my heart. I do have the name and contact info of a man that we have done business with in Clinton, LA who has a ministry of buying and then repairing vehicles for needy persons in his church family. If the Lord leads you to repair the bus, he might be an option. He bought my husbands truck with plans to replace the transmission for 1/3 of what it was going to cost us. If you are interested in his contact info, i will gladly pass it on. Also if there is ANYTHING that I can do to help you, please dont hesitate to contact me. My info can be found on the meal prep list for Tuesday Sept 4th.

Please know that your family is in my prayers and on my heart continually. 2CORINTHIANS 1: 3-5

In His love, your sister in the Lord Jesus, Pati Rudisel

P.S. I am clicking anonymous because I couldn't figure out any of the other options, but obviously, I am not since I want you to know my info.
