Update and Prayer Requests-10/05/12

Things are going pretty good.  Rob continues to improve and get stronger little by little.  He’s started his outpatient therapy which is three times a week at 2 hours per day(One hour of Occupational Therapy and One hour of Physical Therapy) which also means 2 co-pays each time we go to therapy too.  This is going to take a little adjustment in our schedule.  Plus, we have had to go to a couple of doctors visit with a couple of more scheduled in the next 2 weeks.  We also started our new school year on Oct. 1st.  It has been a slow start but we’re hoping to get on a better schedule once we can get these initial doctors appointments out of the way.

While we were at his primary care doctor, they checked his urine.  They found that he has or still has an infection in his bladder.  It turns out to be a medicine resistant staph infection.  Right now, we are not treating it because he isn’t showing any symptoms such as fever, blood in his urine, or increase in muscle spasms.  He has an appointment with a urologist who specializes in his situation in a week and a half.  We are keeping a close eye on him to make sure that no symptoms present themselves right now.  It could do more harm by giving him medicine right now since he isn’t having any outside symptoms.

Wednesday, he had an ultrasound on his legs to check the status on the blood clot issues that he had back when he was in the rehab hospital in New Orleans.  We are happy to report that the test showed no blood clots in either legs!!!  He will continue his Coumadin regiment to help prevent any new blood clots until they feel that he is able to get off of the blood thinner.

Here’s a little bit of good news to report:  It appears that he might be getting some movement in his left thumb and pointer finger.  We are very excited about this news:)  You will find him practicing the little movement often!  Ian was so excited that he took a little video with his camera to show his brothers and sisters.

Also, his pressure sore is looking very good and almost gone!  We are very thankful for this because insurance would not cover his air mattress to help heal and prevent pressure sores so he is on a regular hospital bed mattress since we had to return it.

Some prayer requests:

1.  Continue to pray for Rob’s strength and healing.

2.  Pray for our family as we continue to get into our “new” normal.  We added school back (8th, 7th, 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, and pre-school) into our schedule as of Oct. 1st and his outpatient therapy 3 days a week at 2 hours a day.

3.  Pray that the Lord would continue to show himself through our family and that He would continue to receive all of the praise and glory through this journey that He has purposed for us to walk.

4.  Pray for baby girl Shelby and this pregnancy.  Everything is going well.

5.  Pray for our transportation situation.  There are still a few things that need to be worked out or that we’re waiting on.

6.  Pray for some of the insurance issues we are dealing with and some kinks that we are facing.  We need a roll-in potty/shower chair with tilt in order for Rob to take a shower in our newly remodeled roll-in shower. (Bathroom is not quite finished but it is close and he is able to go ahead and use the shower.)

7.  Pray for me as I continue to care for Rob, the children, and all of the additional and regular daily tasks.  Help me not to murmur or complain but to do it lovingly.  May the Lord grant me strength to be a godly wife and mother each day!  Thankful that even when I fail, He is there, grants me forgiveness, and a new day to try again.

8.  Pray for everyone involved in the jambalaya benefit that is being held on Oct. 20th to benefit our family.  For more info, you can go here.

We would like to continue to thank all of you who have or are bringing meals to us, provided financial gifts, prayers, and notes of encouragements.  The Lord continues to bless and provide for us in so many ways.

For those of you who continue asked how you can help, you can go to www.shelbyfamilyfund.com.

Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!  Ps 115:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved to the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.  Ps 46:1-3

“Be still, and know that I am God.  I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”  The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.  Ps 46:10-11

Praise the Lord for Rob being able to move part of his fingers!!!! What a blessing to him I'm sure. WOW!!

When I pray for him, I sometimes feel hindered by my own thoughts and then I remember to bring my prayers before the Lord with child like faith and BOOM! My prayers go to HIM un-hindered by my own doubt and thoughts.

May God continue to give you daily strength and let your light so shine before men (Matthew 5:16)

You are doing a great job.
hugs~ Cinnamon
