Baby Coons

Do you remember this post about the raccoon that hangs around our neighbors house and even climbs on their roof. Well yesterday while we had friends over, Tate looked outside the back door and windows and saw the raccoon walking past our back door on the patio (which she seems to do on a regular basis) but she was not alone. He said look Momma their are a bunch of raccoons. I looked out and saw the momma raccoon and three baby coons following her. The neighbors said they thought she was pregnant but we thought she was just a frail coon. We were obviously wrong because it looks like she had 3 babies. I grabbed my camera while Candy watched the kids and ran out to follow them in my neighbor's yard.
These are some of the pictures that I took while following the coons.

I found the babies climbing up the neighbor's tree to play on their roof.

They were rolling around in a ball together.
Then, I saw the momma coming up on the other side of me. She didn't even care that I was there. I wasn't that far from her. She went about her business!

Can you see one of the babies on the roof?

Once they saw or heard their momma, they started climbing down the tree.

Then, they ran off following momma toward the other neighbor's yard. I looked over and saw this coon. I thought the momma had went over to get something so I took several pictures of the coon. It was digging in the ground after something then it looked up at me. While this coon was looking at me, I heard the momma and babies coming behind me back across the neighbor's patio. This was not the momma but just another coon!
I followed the coons back toward my house. The babies started ahead of momma.
Momma caught up with them and off they went on their way.
I realized they were headed back in my yard so I ran around to catch up with them. They are headed for my patio again.

I don't know why they just didn't stay on the grass but instead went on the patio to the other side and on their merry way.
I called Rob at work to tell him that she had babies. He said, "Great! That's just what we need ." We know these creatures can be dangerous so we don't want them to be too comfortable around our house with the children.
Had anything interesting happen at your house lately?

That's a cute series. They like mischief. When we lived in California they broke into our neighbor's home through a window slightly a jar and wrecked the kitchen.
