Parts of an Egg

P1070004 P1070005 P1070006

Today in science (Exploring Creation with Zoology 1:  Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day), we studied the different parts of the egg.  I carefully cracked the end and pulled off a section of the shell so we could look at the different parts.  I carefully poured the albumen (the egg white) and the yolk plus we were able to see a little chalazae.  After the egg was empty, I rinsed it out so that everyone could feel the air cell.  Lastly, we pulled the shell membrane away from the shell.  A very simple project but very interesting indeed.

It is pretty cool, isn't it? We hatch chicks in the spring so we get to candle them too.
