Veteran’s Award Ceremony

Monday afternoon, we went to one of the Louisiana Veterans Honor Medal Ceremonies presented by Governor Bobby Jindal and the LA Department of Veterans Affairs.  Chad, a friend of ours from church was one of the veterans honored that day.  I thought the kids would enjoying seeing him presented with a medal by the governor.

We were not sure what to expect because we hadn’t been to one of these ceremonies before.  The governor has been traveling the state and recognizing these heroes from our state.  This ceremony started right about nap time but we went ahead and braved the ceremony.  Turns out it was a larger event than we anticipated because there were a decent amount of people and veterans there for this ceremony.

We were there for 2 1/2 hours.  I thought Asa might take a nap in my arms but he never gave up.  By the end, Asa and Sarah only wanted momma. We were given the opportunity to meet Governor Jindal and take a picture with him so I had to hold both of them in order to get a decent problem without crying.

  

Governor Jindal was so nice.  He took the time to introduce himself to each of our children and ask their names. 

 

The kids were so excited they had the chance to meet the Governor.  We had taken the three oldest to his inauguration when he was elected into office so this made it really special.

The boys enjoyed seeing all of the soldiers along with the veterans from all ages receiving their medals.  They have been doing a lot of saluting since the event!
