39 Weeks and Counting ~ Update

BabyFeet-Boy

Yesterday marked my 39th week of this pregnancy. We are getting excited to meet this new little one.  I saw the midwife today and she said I was a good 3 cm and 80% effaced.  Hoping that he will make his appearance soon!

I’ve said over and over again that this little one has been different.  This is still true.  We thought we were going to have him last night.
I had felt very crampy all day and then contractions started picking up yesterday evening after my 2 mile walk.  They continued to get closer and more intense so we decided to go ahead and take our children to our friends’ house for the night so we wouldn’t have to wake them up in the middle of the night.  After we dropped them off, we went to Walmart close to the hospital to walk around to see how things would go.  I finally called my midwife and talked to her since things seemed to be happening different this time.  (The last 5 babies’ labor and deliveries have been 3 hours or less total.)  I kept feeling lots of pressure in my backside along with the contractions.

We are going to have two ladies from our church there to experience the birth because they have never experienced this beautiful thing.  One has just been married a little over a year and the other is expecting her first child in June.  We love to share these moments with others.  I think this is why I have been a little more careful with this labor because I don’t want them to miss it.  Plus, I live farther away from this hospital.  The midwives have moved to a different hospital which is farther away than the other one which was much more convenient for my quick labors.

Anyway, Rob and I decided to go get checked out at the hospital to see how things were progressing with the midwife on call.  I was definitely having contractions at a more intense level but I was still only 3 cm.  After they monitored the baby and me for a very short time, we opted to go home to get some sleep.

We got home and in the bed around 1 am this morning which didn’t leave us room for much sleep.  Our painters get here around 7 am each day which they should be finish in the next day or so.  I crawled into the fetal position and hoped that I could get some sleep.  Thankfully, I did but woke to no more contractions.  Therefore, I made it to my appointment today.

Hoping that when the “real “ labor kicks in that it will go like the last few labors.  I’m looking forward to meeting our new little one but don’t want to delay due to this experience. (1st time to go the hospital and come home instead of giving birth.)  I felt a little silly being my 9th child and it being a false alarm.  I’ll keep you updated!

Have any of you ever gone in with false labor after already giving birth the first time?

can't wait to see pics of this precious baby! I also can't wait to hear the name you picked. With my last baby I was sent home twice. The last time I was sent home I got in my bed fell asleep and then woke up an hour later to find my water had broken.

So close!! You know people think that just because (yes even we think this at times) we've had a zillion (okay you know what I mean :-) babies that you know what everything means, when it's time and can do it all.

Geneva totally threw me for a loop when she broke all our "norms" for labor and deliveries.

So just count on God giving you a sweet baby! That you can be sure of :-)

hugs ~Cinnamon
